About this Site

In setting up this blog site, I wanted simply to put down some random thoughts on my hobby of PC gaming and PC game designing.

I don’t play many PC games, but those I do I tend to play in a slow and leisurely style that perhaps gives me a different take on them from many gamers and most game reviewers. And then when there is a game/ scenario editor…

Give me a toolset, and the game’s longevity increases by an order of magnitude. My modding started with two small arenas in Unreal, then Age of Kings, and a tiny bit of Total War. Then came Neverwinter Nights. This gave me the opportunity to recreate all those D&D scenarios gathering dust that I had designed, and for the most part never DM’d, over the years. Now my modules had an audience of thousands, all to fall victim to my cruelly (?crudely) designed traps, tricks, labyrinths and the ubiquitous secret doors. And Neverwinter Nights 2 followed, which came with a more polished end result, but required a lot more time and effort to complete.

In this blog my somewhat vague plan is to talk about PC games I have played, old and new, and about my experiences with modding games.
